In Car Child Choking Hazard - When Is An Ice Cream Not An Ice Cream. If Walls wants to sell excess flavourings as air refreshers I have no objection to it, as long as they aren't enticing replica's of the real Ice Cream that a child can easily mistake as the real thing. I hope this was a marketing accident or brain dump, I'd hate to think somebody devised this potentially lethal and cynical marketing strategy to entice kids to want more Ice Cream. Walls please recall these before there is a serious accident. #fixed1t
Arg, it happened again, this time in Walking Dead a few weeks ago. Darren met up with a group of two woman and a young man and one of the woman was falling about ill. There they are, in a stressful situation, surrounded by zombies, no instantly available fast acting carbohydrates to hand, and after a fracas Darren runs off with a backpack, and it contains insulin.
So he takes it back to them, and the girl injects herself (doesn't eat) but is instantly saved and well, and Darren gets Robbed for his humanity.
This is wrong in so many ways. Insulin is a catalyst that enables humans and others to matabolize sugars in the blood stream and glucose so the cells of the body can use them. If you take carbohydrates, sugars etc without insulin, you will feel ill, pee a lot, get blurred vision, get a headaches, then gradually become increasingly unwell and lose weight etc etc. Unless you drank several litres of high sugar drink or ate large amounts of instant carbohydrates then nothing m…
I have had Type 1 Diabetes for Over 35 years and currently take 6 injections of insulins per day and currently have none of the major complications associated with it.
I Do Not Suffer From Diabetes - I Just Live With It
The views expressed here are my own and an aid memoire to myself in how I manage my own Type 1 Diabetes, I do not prescribe anybody do what I do and recommend they make up their own minds and control their own Diabetes.
This video is an Urgent Hypo Treatment Warning to Diabetics and carers
I am doing this video to make people aware that all the Lucozade Glucose / Carbohydrate drinks are no longer the same.
The New Lucozade flavours no longer contain the High Glucose levels of the Original Lucozade and are therefore ineffective at treating Diabetic Hypo's where a small glass of the original orange coloured clear Lucozade, was enough to alleviate the Hypo Symptoms with 5 - 15 minutes.
Also, these low energy Lucozade drinks are ineffective in stacking car…
When I stuffed dead nettles into an old bottle of Diet Lemonade topped up with water, I expected them to rot down into plant food. But after going cloudy for a month or so the water gradually cleared showing this. Unbeleivable and a candidate for space travel, its created its own environment, in a sealed bottle.
I put Comfrey in a bottle at the same time and it went more smelly and rotted down.
My third session with Bree in the Paddock went really well, I think we both throughly enjoyed it as can be seen from the video. She definitely needs this, as you can see from the video, when she goes she's very very fast. Malcolm aka #fixed1t
The Acetone did appear to break down the integrity of the superglue, but as is the nature of Acetone it also started affect the plastic as can be seen in the video.
The interesting thing from my standpoint is that it may be effective in removing superglue from glass and other hard surface, so once I've finished this series of videos I plan to try some of the positive none busted solutions on hard and glass objects.
I'm placing the information on my Superglue removal experiment in this 'Strange But True' blog until I can create a suitable 'fixed1t Research blog'. The experiment has come about due to the increasing number of urgent requests I am receiving from people who have spilt superglue on their phone case, tablet case to pc.
I'm testing a number of readily available chemicals and methods to see if its possible to remove superglue without specialist chemicals.
I have set up 8 test stops on the back of my Google ASUS Nexus 7 case so that it is a real item test.
The first 3 trials are listed on the is blog, each video has a link in the last 30 seconds to the next video.
If you have any Myths on what will remove superglue, then let me know I'll be happy to test them, if it isn't dangerous or illegal ;-)
This video is Part 2 of a 9 Part series Investigating Superglue Removal From Uneven Plastic Surfaces and has come about after many requests from subscribers to find a solution to the problem of spilling Superglue on their Android Phones, Tablets and Computers. In this video I experiment with a heat gun, dental scrapers and plastic razor blade to de-bond and remove the Superglue from my deliberately damaged Google Nexus 7 tablet back panel, hopefully leaving the minimum of mess or damage.
In my last video I showed you how I ripen Green End Of Season Home Grown Tomatoes in doors. In this video I show you the results after just 3 days of following the fixed1t How To instructions I gave in Video 1. If you haven't seen video 1 don't worry a link will appear towards to end of the video. #fixed1tgardening
Thanks to all who responded, but that wasn't very many, and the number of views since I posted has stopped at 31, then I realised why. The accurate nay scientific nature of the description (boring) only interested a few. So I'm about to change the description and post it again to test if it gets any more watches and comments. ;-)
Question: Whats best a child sat in front of the TV for a couple of hours, or making a video of a crazy myth busting project and working with an adult to see how to edit it and upload it. Aiden enjoyed this and wants to learn how to make his own movies. Success No Telly :-)
After I posted my Myth Busting video on Shelling A Hard Boiled Egg By Rolling it, (link at the end of this video) somebody told me about a video Shelling A Hard Boiled In Jar Of Water. So eager To find an easy method I'm Myth Testing it here myself.
I had to test the boiled egg shelling in a jar of water Myth myself, here are the fixed1t results. #fixed1tmythbusting
I'm mazed at how much dog poop mess is left by dog owners on the grass on public paths and playgrounds. But watching some people getting it on their hands when picking it up, I thought perhaps that why many others don't bother. So with a bit of research I've devised a simple method (many may already do it) to pick up the dog poop mess and keep your hands clean. If you think the video is useful, please share it with other dog owners. Thanks. #fixed1ttip
I've been searching for information on the Lullaby I sing to Olli Kin which was one my mother sang to me and taught me. The original lyrics are:
Go to sleep, little brother Peter
Go to sleep, little Peterkin
Mother is within, she will bake a cake For her Peterkin, when he shall awake Go to sleep, Little brother Peter
Go to sleep, Little Peterkin
I just modified it for Olli Kin in my YouTube Video: How To Get Babies and Toddlers To Sleep With A Simple Lullaby
As we drove in the car a few days ago, he started singing it, at 22 months Olli hasn't got all the words but his timing, pace and tuning are already very good, which isn't surprising I've sung it to him thousands of times, and nearly fell asleep myself in the process. The other night I was having difficult getting off so I sang it silently to myself and fell quickly to sleep.
I wonder if they still teach this Lullaby to children as its a simple Do Re Me melody.
I read that dogs are very lactose intolerant, but my new rescue Lurcher Bree appears to be very fond of a good old english drink. As the song goes 'Everything Stops For Tea' and at 3pm that includes my Dog ;-)
If you know anybody having difficulties getting their babies and infants to sleep please share this video with them, its easy to do and is very effective to get them to sleep, and to get them to go back off quickly if they wake in the night. Malcolm (aka fixed1t)
Monday marked 46 years since the Apollo 11 lunar module was landed on the moon by Neil Armstrong with fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin as fellow Astronaut Michael Collins stayed in and piloted the Command Module to secure their way home. As a teenage boy, this sealed my interest and obsession with space and space travel. These guys were and are real heroes of the Human Race. I can't believe there are still people out there who felt and still feel it was a massive, expensive hoax hoisted on the world to hide the money being spent in Vietnam. SO I HAVE A CUNNING PLAN What would be really cool is, before they decommission the Humble Telescope or power it down they should:
turn it to face the moon and train it on the Apollo 11 landing sitebroadcast the entire event live across the worldthen train it on the other landing sitesfinally point it at the space station so that we can watch the space station live:movement on the stationcomings and goingsearth in the backgroundI think somebody should …
Tonight I came close to seriously injuring my hand with my 'Harmless iPad' it would most likely also ending up with me dropping and breaking it at the same time. Please watch and share this warning video. I'll be much more careful and make sure the kids I work with check the iPads it before picking them up in future. #fixed1ttip
Fly Over video of Pluto's Ice Mountains getting closer with each pass, over the next few weeks more and more of the surface images will become available in ever great detail. As somebody pointed out the cost of this mission 9.5 years the team the craft the flight divide by the distance 3 Billion Miles comes out at around 22 cents per mile and the further it travels the cheaper it will become ;-)
And successive governments have reduce their investment in space.
If you think they should be doing more, for future missions for the children of the future, share this post.
Here is a section of Pluto's southern hemisphere as photographed by New Horizons as is shot towards Pluto. The detail is stunning.
Interestingly it looks like a close-up of a huge whales head complete with eye and barnacles.
This science is brilliant. What we also know now is that should humans decide to explore space, there is a massive energy source at Pluto, like a huge filling station.
The question is where is the methane coming from, methane is usually a by product of life.
Almost there, 3 billion miles and 9 year old technology and the images are stunning, can't wait for the close up images tomorrow. Who says money on space exploration is wasted. The cost must now work out at .0000001 cent a mile of something even smaller.

Another amazing NASA Mission is nearing its conclusion at Pluto, its amazing to think a mission started 9 years ago is still working and bring humans more knowledge of this tiny enclave of the insignificant galaxy we call home.
I drove along the same road this afternoon and the Three Red Kite Hawks were hovering and swooping around, I managed to get this with the iPhone, I've had to zoom in a lot to see it:
but its a magnificent bird, so I think I'll head over with Camera and Tripod and see what I can get over the next few weeks.
So where is the camera charger, rem time to turn the place upside down again, after I tidied it lol
Crows often harass other smaller birds so it was fascinating to see three majestic Red Kite Hawks giving it back. Seeing one Red Kite is good, but three working together was something special. #fixed1t
Given the popularity of my CERES videos and the fact I now have over 250 fixed1t videos in the fixed1t YouTube channel, I've decided to put the CERES videos in there own Playlist.
This is for two reasons:
I had difficulty showing a video to a friend as there are so manyI plan to do more 'Information Videos' on CERESI plan to do some videos on the NASA 'DAWN' mission.
Here is the link to all my CERES videos, please bookmark it and share it. Astronomy - CERES Movies
I found some stunning colour footage of CERES and converted it into a Flyover Movie, its stunning, but I haven't been able to find the Google Map for it ;-) Point Of Interest '3-Mile Pyramid' or Super Volcano lol
The discussion was about Extremophiles and group of organisms that thrive in physically or geochemically extreme conditions that are detrimental to most life on Earth. In contrast, organisms that live in more moderate environments may be termed mesophilesor neutrophiles. They were first identified in 1977 when the submersible 'ALVIN' was used to go down to over 2000 metres off the Galapagos Islands and found Hydro Thermal Vents of super heated water ap…
I filmed this video in the summer and just came across the footage whilst thinning out my video library. I was filming and incredibly loud vortex sound emanating from an overflow water pipe from a high lake into a smaller lower lake. As I was filming a duckling came swimming towards the pipe. Realising it was in danger I tried to shoo it away from the pipe. But is stubbornly ignored me and suddenly dived head first into the whirlpool vortex of the pipe as you can see from the video. I quickly turned round expecting to see a dead duckling float in the lake and it not re-appear, but like a miracle it suddenly surfaced unaffected by its pipe ride and carried on swimming and diving for food in the lower lake.
I don't know anything about duck intelligence, but it seemed to do this deliberately, like it had seen another duck doing it or it was a regular 'water-slide' for ducks and a short-cut to the lower lake.
Please like the video if you enjoy it and share it.
Most of us know that humans and other animals need Oxygen, and without it we rapidly die. But have you ever wondered why the Oxygen masks on planes seem to be flat pancakes rather than huge Oxygen filled balloons? or that masks for people on Oxygen appear to have holes in them or don't fit tightly or are two loose tubes up the nose? The truth of the matter is that although we need Oxygen at sea level at around 20% to be fully conscious (well most of the time) or sick people may be given more (because they aren't absorbing enough). You may think that if Oxygen is good for us then more must be better.. but this is not necessarily the case.
Those of you linked will have seen my recent videos on using the Disability Accessibility Options on the iPad (iPhone etc) and the Android Tablet and a few of you have liked it, thanks. But I've been working with disable people and students for over 10 years to Improve the specialist technology available to them. The thing is, a small number of companies do some great technology, i.e. textHelp, Claro, Dolphin etc but what really needs to happen to get the big boys and girls interested in doing more than the bare minimum is for the non-disabled (not yet disabled age get everyone) to realise how stress reducing and time saving these things really are and to start demanding better. This will only happen when the technology is waved under their busy noses and introduced to then by their friends. Therefore they need your help and it may help you. Please share this message and the two links with others as widely as possible and ask them to do the same and if just a fraction of the …
If you type the letters ASMR into the search box on YouTube you'll get more than 1.5 million results. There are now scores, possibly hundreds, of people making amateur videos designed to trigger in viewers a particular pleasurable sensation which has been dubbed Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. One of the videos has been watched more than 7 million times. But only a minority of people claim to experience ASMR. Nick Higham is one of them.

To get the best binaural effect, put on headphones, smile and relax and listen multiple times. I found this is really effective at relaxing before going to sleep, it must have something to do with the release of endorphins.
